The United States Presidential Election last week moved many of us through a tsunami of emotions – shock, anger, grief, and fear. As we begin to accept that Donald Trump will be the 45th president of the United States and that the face of politics will dramatically shift in the next four years. We have to come to terms that their will be factors that come into play that will be out of our control.
What we can control is our voice. We can use it to inspire, engage, and try to make the world better. As much hatred and bigotry in this world there is also kindness, compassion, and love. Good people surround us and they inspire us to be better.
I look at the people that surround me on a daily basis and in my social media feed all I see are kind, caring, smart, talented, and creative individuals. Maybe it’s time for us to collectively raise the voice that reminds us that good still exists in this world.
I want you to share your brilliance, your light, and a story about someone who created a positive impact in your life or community. As much as the world feels like it is spinning in turmoil we can control what goes on in our lives by inspiring others with our words.
I am in the early stages of putting together an e-book which will be a compilation of essays that inspires, uplifts, and shows that positive change can happen. I am looking for 750-1500 word well-written essays about people in your life that have impacted and uplifted you, your family, or your community. Submissions will be accepted until December 14th, 2016 and emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
All of the proceeds from this book will be Donated to War Child Canada.
So much is happening that is out of our control but we can still have a small positive impact by focusing on the good in others. It is by focusing on this good that we can restore our spirits, find our voice, and maybe just maybe help a cause that means something to all of us.
